The Signal Hill Sewer Connector is among the list of projects being given priority for 2019.
Secretary of Settlements, Urban Renewal and Public Utilities Clarence Jacob said the project will benefit schools in the area.
“This connection will connect the Signal Hill Secondary School, the Happy Haven School, the Signal Hill Primary School and the Information Centre,” he said.
Jacob said the area has been having challenges with its sewer connection. He said the connection will run from the Scarborough Waste Water Treatment Plant, which will bring some relief to Signal Hill residents.
Meanwhile, the Secretary also announced that the Division is set to build new public washrooms.
“With regards to public utilities, we are in the process of constructing three new public conveniences. Hundreds of visitors and nationals, who traverse the island to enjoy the sites and for recreation, many times require a washroom facility to refresh themselves.”
Jacob said the options for public washroom facilities were limited and his Division was committed to adding new facilities. Two of the facilities will be placed in the Scarborough area.
