8,000 Expected to Attend 17th Annual Tobago Blue Food Festival this Weekend

Approximately 8,000 patrons are expected to attend the annual Tobago Blue Food Showcase at the Bloody Bay Recreational Grounds on Sunday October 18, 2015 from 10am to 7pm.

The Tobago Blue Food Festival is the collaborative effort of the Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Tourism and Transportation and the village councils of Bloody Bay, L’Anse Fourmi and Parlatuvier. The festival provides an opportunity for members of the communities to showcase their creativity in designing and producing dishes and beverages using the root vegetable Dasheen as the major ingredient.

Now in it’s 17th year, the festival continues to attract thousands of patrons from Europe, the United States, throughout the Caribbean and Trinidad.

This year’s festival will again feature the Blue Food Cook Out competition with prizes to be won in the categories of Best Overall Dasheen Dish and Cook of the Day, Best Dasheen Dessert and Peoples Choice Award.

Patrons can also look forward to the Roast Pig, Dirt Oven Bread and Kids zones as well as entertainment by a list of popular artistes including Ziggy Ranking, Oscar B, Black Sage, Lady Africa and Gardah Knight.

Shuttle services will be provided by the Public Transport Service Corporation from the Scarborough Market Square at 9am, 10.30am and 12:00 noon and returning from Bloody Bay at 6pm, 7:30pm and 9:00pm.

Shuttles will also depart the Cyd Gray Sporting Complex car park in Roxborough and the L”anse Fourmi Community Center throughout the day starting from 9:30am and returning from Bloody Bay from 4:30pm until.

Patrons can also access shuttles from the 28.5KM mark on the Bloody Bay North side road.

Patrons are reminded that only vehicles with special passes will be allowed into the venue in an effort to avoid traffic congestion in the area.

Public parking is permitted at the Cyd Gray Sporting Complex car park and Bloody Bay Beach Facilities.

On Sunday October 18th, 2015 between the hours of 7:00am and 8:00pm, parking is prohibited on the North Side Road from the Bloody Bay Road junction to the L’Anse Fourmi Link Road junction.

One-side parking is permitted on the western side of the Bloody Bay Road and the L’Anse Fourmi Link Road as well as the western side of the road leading to the Bloody Bay Beach Facilities.

No unauthorized vending will be allowed at the Tobago Blue Food Festival venue nor within the vicinity of the Bloody Bay Junction to the Bloody Bay Water Treatment station.
