Thousands of patrons yesterday, April 18th, flocked to the Speyside Recreational Ground to be part of the traditional curtain -raiser of the annual Tobago Jazz Experience.
This year they were treated to fantastic performances led by Jamaican reggae star Romain Virgo, Farmer Nappy, Oscar B and his band and a number of local performers. In addition members of the community of Speyside were given concessionaries and offered for sale dishes for which Tobago is renowned.
Secretary of Tourism and Transportation, Tracy Davidson- Celestine said the annual event in East Tobago was important because it signaled the start of the island’s largest event-tourism product and offered Tobagonians and Tobago business an opportunity to benefit from the increased arrivals to the destination during the week of the Tobago Jazz Experience.
The event also saw the introduction of a new traffic plan which ensured there was no gridlock and patrons were able to both enter and leave Speyside with little or no traffic problems.
