The documentation of culture matters, not only to future generations, but to help persons outside the culture understand the dynamics of it.
It is with this idea in mind that the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation launched the Tobago Rural Film Initiative last month.
The Initiative is being spearheaded by the Department of Culture and is geared toward documenting and showcasing Tobago’s cultural norms and practices in its truest form.
During the launch Tourism Secretary Nadine Stewart-Phillips said the project will ensure “that pertinent aspects of Tobago’s culture and heritage are accurately documented, preserved, imparted, and of course, marketed internationally.”
The Division is calling for individuals and interest groups to submit their scripts for assessment. Scripts are still being accepted electronically to tobagoruralfilm@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is May 22, 2019.
