The Speyside Water Wheel, one of Tobago’s most treasured historical attractions, received a facelift with the installation of new signage last week.
This was part of the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation’s ongoing signage project, which includes extensive review and replacement of signs at Tobago’s various beach facilities, historical sites and tourist attractions.
Site enhancements, community tourism partnerships, and urban renewal projects are all aimed towards the overall infrastructural development of Tobago, and the improvement of the island’s tourism product.
The Speyside Water Wheel, an iconic landmark, is a reminder of Tobago’s thriving sugar industry, as it was used to provide the energy needed to process sugar at the Speyside Estate.
The new signage includes valuable historical information.
