Youth Get Tourism Lessons

Youth in Tobago didn’t only benefit from personal development camps during the July/August vacation. They also learned about the importance of tourism to the island, and how they can play a role in the development of the industry.

Students ages 9 to 15 participated in the Tourism Summer Youth Awareness Programme, hosted by the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation from August 13-24. Two installments were held: the first at Lambeau Multipurpose Facility from August 13-17, and the second from August 20 to 24 at the Betsy’s Hope Multipurpose Facility.

The participants attended workshops on “Career Opportunities in Tourism/Culture” and the “Importance of the Environment”.

Other activities included art and craft sessions, guest lectures by industry stakeholders, and field trips to some of the island’s visitor attractions.
